Shameful I am over 80 years old. Worked everyday of my life since I was 15. The only help I got in cold winters was the £300 heating allowance. Not much but it did pay for almost 1 months energy bill. That’s been ripped away and I do not qualify for cold weather payment.
Every British pensioner should receive the Cold Weather Payment. Thousands of us who are now Octogenarian Pensioners (& Plus) who have worked since leaving school, college or university, paying all the required taxes etc., claiming no benefits along the way and receiving the paltry State Pension should automatically receive help to pay the extortionate utility bills that increase every 3 months. Many of those people don’t have enough money to pay for high electricity or gas bills which will be received over the very cold winter months.
Immigrants, illegal or otherwise, crossing the English Chanel in small boats receive every benefit that’s available yet they have never contributed anything to this Country, whereas the indigenous population who have worked hard during their working lives and contributed to all of the Country’s Tax Systems etc., receive NOTHING! Where is the justice or fairness in that? Employees of this country are treated shabbily whereas incomers who have contributed nothing receive housing, N.H,S., medical care, and so many benefits etc., etc., that the Country’s tax payers have a problem obtaining!!!
